It’s 5:30 on a Friday night.
The weekend is just getting started, and while our friends are out painting the town red, we’re elbow-deep in a cramped home kitchen painstakingly batching syrup after syrup. What felt like an endless, sticky ritual had quietly become the backbone of event prep for our other venture, In The Mix.

Then came the spark. More and more partygoers were asking where they could get their hands on the syrups behind our signature drinks. As demand grew, so did the clutter and the need for more room.

And that’s when things really started happening...

The next steps were game changers in turning our idea into a full-fledged product line. Once we settled into our new Saskatoon studio, the real planning kicked off. Before long, the build-out of a commercial kitchen was underway. A shiny new home for all the gear that helps us produce products faster and smoother than ever.
What started as a humble, home-based potion-making hustle had officially levelled up from toil and trouble to full-on boil and bubble!

Circling back to our humble beginnings (aka the chaotic, steam-filled era of at-home brewing experiments).
The scene looked suspiciously like witchcraft: bubbling pots, clouds of mysterious steam, and heaps of herbs and fruit scraps scattered everywhere. Honestly, if a cauldron had popped up, no one would have batted an eye.
It suddenly hit us, this was exactly what one would expect to see if a witch was brewing her potions.

So from that night forward, whenever someone asked why we couldn’t make it out, we just smiled and said, “Sorry, we’re busy making our potions.” And thus, Prairie Potion was born because every magical creation deserves a legendary name.

Do these contain alcohol?
No! Our syrups are alcohol free. We've designed them this way so that they can lend themselves to non-alcoholic beverages just as much as they do cocktails. Visit our recipe page for inspiration and a guide on crafting either.
What's the shelf life?
As part of our pledge to keep our products chemical free, we use natural preservatives such as citric acid, cinnamon (an anti-microbial spice) as well as a higher sugar ratio.
What is a 2:1 syrup?
This refers to the sugar to water ratio. We make all of our potions 2 parts sugar to 1 part water, as this increases the richness of the syrup and also extends its shelf life. Being that it is high in sugar volume, you also need less!
